Woman Spends Nearly Two Months Chasing A Feral Tom Cat Until She Finally Earns His Trust

Earning a feral cat’s trust is not the easiest thing to do, as such cats spend nearly their entire lives fending for themselves on the streets.

However, when this kind-hearted woman named Katie met a feral cat in her yard, she refused to give up on him. Her love and determination wrote a heartwarming story that everyone needs to hear.

One day, Katie went out and stumbled upon a heartwarming surprise – a feral tomcat was standing frozen by her car.

As soon as Katie saw him, she knew she wanted to help, but sadly, the cat was too scared. She shared in an interview:

“When I would just walk a little closer, he would immediately run away.”

Despite the challenges, Katie was determined to earn the cat’s trust. He was a senior cat who had likely spent a lifetime on the streets. The poor cat looked so sad and broken, and Katie decided to change that.

Katie named the cat Tom Tom and provided him with a small outdoor shelter where he could rest peacefully. As soon as she set everything, he came onto the porch to investigate.

Sadly, Tom Tom was too afraid to come inside his little cat house. He would just sneak in to grab some food and instantly run away. Yet, Katie continued trying.

Every day, she would talk to him and leave the most delicious food for him, hoping he would realize she was there to help.

After nearly two months, Katie finally achieved what she longed for. She managed to catch Tom Tom by using a humane trap. However, after bringing him inside the house, Tom Tom was still too scared of everything that was going on.

Even then, Katie refused to give up. She showered Tom Tom with sweet talk, love, affection, and delicious snacks until he finally decided to accept his new start in life.

The biggest transformation in Tom Tom occurred when he met Katie’s foster kittens. Katie said:

“When I got four foster kittens, his walls really came down, and I saw a softer side of him.”

Tom Tom finally opened his heart to Katie and began enjoying his new life. He became a completely different cat. Katie proudly shared:

“Watching all the milestones with him was… It was a beautiful journey, but I knew he wasn’t going to be with us forever and ever.”

Sadly, a few months after Tom Tom’s incredible transformation, he got severely sick and passed away.

Although that left Katie heartbroken, she was happy she once earned his trust and that she was able to give him a chance to spend his last days in the best way possible. She added:

“I’m really really thankful that he came into my life. He got a forever family and love and for me it just gave me a sense of purpose. I just loved every moment of taking care of him and him being my cat.”

Tom Tom may have been a street feral cat for most of his life, but at least he got the chance to spend his last days in a loving home, showered with love and care. He deserved nothing less.
