Emmerdale’s Rosie Bentham discussed her dad John on Father’s Day after his shock death a week before her 18th birthday.
The actress, 19, who plays Gabby Thomas in the soap, was away for the weekend when she received a phone call telling her her father had suffered a pulmonary embolism and died at just 60 years old.
To commemorate her father, Rosie, her mother, her sister and two brothers, got together on Sunday and remembered John but she admitted the second Father’s Day without him was just as difficult as the first.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: ‘Dad loved being a dad more than anything else. It was such a big thing for him. It’s why I always tell my friends to reach out to their dads because you never ever know.
‘When you have lost a parent, Father’s Day can be quite daunting. It can be quite a difficult day. I have it as a day of reflection.’
She said that she hopes by opening up about her own experiences with grief and losing a loved one she can help other people who may be going through something similar.

Rosie is a rising star in the acting world after she joined the Nottingham branch of The Television Workshop in 2013, which boasts well-known alumni such as Vicky McClure, Jack O’Connell and Joe Dempsie.
While attending the performing arts organisation, she worked on plays such as Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, Sound of Music and Annie.
Rosie auditioned for Emmerdale when producers contacted The Television Workshop.
She had four callbacks before being offered the part of Gabby Thomas and making her debut appearance in January 2016, aged 14.
Her role came up as the iconic Emmerdale character Ashley Thomas (John Middleton), her father in the soap, was battling dementia.

Currently, Rosie is involved in a significant plot in the programme in which she is attempting to steal Home Farm from Kim Tate (Claire King).
In the past few months Kim has worked out someone has been drugging her and set up a trap to figure out who is behind it all.
Emmerdale revealed the suspects were Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln), Al Chapman (Michael Wildman), Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and Gabby Thomas.
The culprit is due to be revealed this week.
