When it is time to give birth a lioness leaves her pride and has her lion cubs in dense cover. Cubs remain hidden for one to two months before being introduced to the rest of the pride. And also the father lion generally plays no paternal role when it comes to provisioning of food to the cubs, he still might show his affection and readiness to play and teach the little cub. Moreover, male lions protect their cubs from danger.

Lion cub meets his father
The Denver Zoo shared a video of a young cub and his proud papa, Tobias, meeting for the first time since the cub’s birth.
The furry bundle of joy is welcomed by his entire pride, including mama Neliah, as well as half-sisters Sabi and Kamara. But it’s Tobias, a full-grown lion at 2 years old, who appeared particularly overjoyed to finally spend time with his son.
Video captured by the zoo showed the cub playing with his dad. The cub is growing fast and already weighs 12 pounds.
“This little lion is climbing up the ranks in the world – as in he literally loves climbing everything,”
– the zoo wrote alongside the feel-good footage.
The little cub is yet to be named, but the zoo is inviting members of the public to vote from a shortlist of three names: Meru, Moremi, and Tatu.
