Twin Black Jaguar Cubs Thriving at Kobe Oji Zoo

At Kobe Oji Zoo, twin jaguar cubs born last month are thriving. The male and female twins, with sleek black fur and bright eyes, were born on June 18th. They are the offspring of a father who arrived at the zoo in 2013 and a mother, Elia, from South Africa. Black jaguars are rare in Japan, making these cubs even more special.

Visitors are excited about the new arrivals, although the cubs are currently kept indoors for their safety. One visitor shared their joy, saying, “I can’t wait to see these cute little cubs.”

This is the first jaguar birth at Oji Zoo in eight years. To ensure the cubs’ well-being, zookeepers are limiting human contact and keeping the family out of public view for now. The community eagerly awaits the day they can see the thriving twin jaguars.
